But my kids kinda sleep like crap. They take forever to fall asleep and still wake at night, even at 3 and 5
Sleep has always been the ONE area that I have always refused to help other parents navigate. 
And this is a big reason why. 
For a long time, I just accepted that this is my life for a while. 
But recently, I learned that there are other options to just “waiting it out” (who knew?!).
That I can support my kids to sleep better while still being responsive.

I'm Maisie!  I'm a twin mama who somehow decided it would be a good idea to ditch my career in nursing, and start a business as a sleep consultant, so that I could spend more time with my boys
Only, it didn't really work out that way! (It's hard to juggle work and family life, isn't it!?)
It all started when we found out we were having twins, the comments started pouring in….Twins? "Oh man, I used to want twins, and now there's just no way," or the heart-felt... "Better sleep while you can!" 
Let's just say I panicked!  I geeked out, and read a ton of books. (one benefit of being on bedrest LOL)
And let me tell you...the newborn days were a blur!  But once we got the feeding stuff sorted out…our twins slept reallllly well. 
It felt like I had discovered the magic sauce of parenting, and started talkin’ sleep with aaaannny Mama who would listen!
As my maternity leave came to an end, a friends helpful nudge led to me signing up for my first sleep certification (I now hold 3!), and I started my private practice. 
Fast forward and.... BAM! We hit the toddler years!
All of a sudden nothing made sense. They were waking up more, and taking forever to fall asleep. I was yelling, they were crying - and we were actually sleeping worse than their newborn days! Much worse
I started doubting my skills as a sleep coach, and frantically searched for answers
But there were none! At least nothing that I wanted to try...
I don't know if you've noticed? But hardly anyone really talks about sleep BEYOND the baby years. 
The more I searched and learned the more I felt drawn by the need to fill this gap.
I started focusing more on sleep, development, and parenting as it relates to KIDS.  Even became a Peaceful Parenting Educator!
It took a while, but I've finally smooshed all my knowledge and experience into a heart-centered and holistic, parenting to sleep framework that prioritizes both the parent AND child. 
Because, as a mom of twin boys, I get it!  You want the best for your family, and so do I.

Do you ever get frustrated when putting your child Do you ever get frustrated when putting your child to bed (or trying to!)
When I can feel the mom rage building or my inner critic revving up, I find it helps to use a mantra. 
Do you have a manta? 
If you don't, then save this post so it’s handy when you need it!
Then take a quick flip through the different mantras…
You’ll know the one you're meant to use because it’ll hit close to home. Might even make you a little teary eyed.
My go to is usually, “this is not an emergency” 
I learned this one in my Peaceful Parent Educator training with @drlauramarkham_ahaparenting
The reason that I like this one is because it’s short and easy to remember
That, and it’s applicable in soooo many parenting situations. 
I like to close my eyes and take a few deep breaths as I mouth the words silently repeating the mantra in my head.

Ever ask yourself why sleep is so unpredictable an Ever ask yourself why sleep is so unpredictable and complicated? I mean, if it’s not one thing, it’s another!
Sleep was hard enough when they were babies, but at least you sorta expected it
But by the time your child gets older, it’s like wait a minute, isn’t sleep supposed to get easier?
When sleep sucks, you probably find yourself whipping out your phone, scrolling for answers
Only you’re left feeling even more hopeless and confused, because:
* So much of what comes up is geared towards babies
* You’ve already tried most of it, and it hasn’t worked
* Or it works for a bit, and then you are right back in the trenches again
* Its confusing and conflicting
* And some things you just aren’t willing to try!
By the time the toddler years hit, many families give up on Google
They stop searching for that magic bullet.. and spend months, if not years struggling.
Sleep advice for kids really sucks! (Well…most of it! Lol)
